Steve’s WTA Wimbledon Preview: Pliskova vs Martincova

Posted on

Just a small play here, however I do like what Karolina Pliskova has produced since being down a break to Tamara Zidansek in the first round (that felt weird to write).

Whilst Donna Vekic may have been less than 100%, the controlled way in which Pliskova played that match, and the way in which she limited her errors was impressive given some of the tennis she has produced this year. Whilst I was disappointed when I took an outright on her last week, I am seeing more improved form from the Czech here through the early rounds.

Whilst I have backed Martincova a couple of times over the last few months, I don’t have as much of a preference supporting her at such prices against bigger strikers. I don’t think she has the right mix of power, consistency and movement to be a threat to Pliskova in these conditions, leading to the -4.5 games being value today.

I will take the Czech to win and cover for 1 unit.

Suggested Bet

1 unit Pliskova -4.5 games vs Martincova at $2 at Bet365 ($2.05 at Pinnacle)
