ATP Challenger Lugano Preview: Masur vs Marchenko

Posted on

Short and sharp here, with the odds heavily swayed towards Daniel Masur given their match in Italy just a couple of days ago in the Biella semi final.

Masur got the job done in the semi final 6-3 6-3 as a $2.50 underdog, and based on that result, he now comes into the re-match as a slight underdog, with both players’ odds below $2 today. The first note from the match is the fact that both players generated 4 break point opportunities, with Masur able to convert 3 compared to 0 for Marchenko. Further to this, Masur was able to put 70% of first serves in play, his 16th best since the start of 2019, in a period in which he has played 126 matches.

The short term favours Masur, aided by that high first serve percentage, however I am selling on his stock at the prices on the rematch. Marchenko has put together the better body of work over the course of the last 6 weeks, and looks to be a great value price today for a 2 unit selection.

Suggested Bet
