WTA Doha Preview: Brady vs Kontaveit

Posted on

I won’t go into too much depth here as I did discuss this play was coming on Eat Sleep Tennis (Episode 14), however this looks to be a slight letdown spot for Jennifer Brady coming off her loss in the final of the Austalian Open.

There is no question that Brady is one of the best strikers of the ball in the women’s game at the moment, however I think her style here actually matches up relatively well for Anett Kontaveit, something that I don’t often say. The higher the bounce of the ball, the more likely it is to sit comfortably within the strike zone where Kontaveit does her best work, and she looked solid without being spectacular in Melbourne across the couple of weeks (shared the Grampians trophy and lost to Rogers in R3 of the Australian Open). She comes to a more favourable match-up here, and at $2.50 looks a play today.

Kontaveit is going to be aggressive, and at the price I am happy to support her. Look for her to pull the trigger down the line consistently from a high strike point and pressure the American, who may come out a little flat here off her loss in the Australian Open final.

Suggested Bet

2 units Kontaveit to defeat Brady at $2.50 at Unibet/Bet365

Please note: This is also available at $2.57 at Topsport, however prices at Topsport don’t hold as well. Also $2.60+ currently at Pinnacle.
