ATP Rome Qualifying – Gulbis vs Polmans

Gulbis vs Polmans (Approx Midnight AEST)

The bigger the tournament, the more inclined you are to witness a better performance from Ernests Gulbis. The Latvian is one of only a handful of players that I would consider at such a price, even with a number of poor performances on clay over the last couple of weeks at Challenger level. Funnily enough, his form isn’t too bad, with three losses to Aslan Karatsev and one loss to Hanfmann. Stepping up to Masters 1000 level should see a more consistent, motivated Gulbis than we sometimes see on the Challenger circuit.

I don’t see any form across the last couple of years on clay that suggests that Marc Polmans is going to be a major threat towards Gulbis in this match. Whilst I wouldn’t be getting involved below $1.65, this match will rest on the racquet of Gulbis. Polmans has the movement and fitness to extend out the match, however I don’t see him as being powerful enough to dictate in this match for long periods.

Happy to back Gulbis in this match-up for 1.5 units.

Suggested Bet

1.5 units Gulbis to defeat Polmans at $1.87 at Unibet
