What a fascinating final we have in store in Lexington. Both players have served me well this week, with Teichmann winning as an underdog to Shelby Rogers in their semi-final, whilst my outright selection for the tournament in Jennifer Brady was dominant en route to the final as well.
Compared to the Prague final, I feel as though the odds for this match are a little more accurate, so I would only suggest a small play on one market.
Whilst Teichmann has been able to systematically break down a side of her opponent through her last two matches as an underdog, it is incredibly hard to fault the week of Brady. She has looked absolutely ruthless from the outset, with straight set wins over Watson, Linette, Bouzkova and Gauff. I remarked in my outright preview that I thought she had taken her game to another level when I was fortunate to watch her play live against Barty in Brisbane. She looks to be incredibly settled on court, and her ball striking through her last two wins in particular have been ruthless. Confidence is key for Brady, and she is full of confidence at the moment.
The decision to come and add more points to her ranking (instead of defending her title from last year) by playing Lexington has been an absolute masterstroke from Teichmann. She will be one to watch at the US Open, and moreso on clay in the latter stages of this year, however I think Brady may be a little too strong for her in the conditions. Rogers gave away far too many free points at key times yesterday, and based on what we have seen from Brady this week, that won’t be the case in the final.
I am happy to make a 1 unit selection on Brady to win in straight sets. I also like the -4 game handicap if you can access it with your bookmaker.
Good luck to all those who have a live ticket on Brady to win the tournament as well – hopefully she can maintain her form.
