This is a bit of a quirky one, as I have value showing up in the moneyline price for Marta Kostyuk.
The Ukrainian has had an interrupted start to the season, which is a funny thing to say about an Australian Open quarter finalist, but after dealing with illness in Doha looks to be in a better position here when she again faces Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Kostyuk is starting a little longer this time and I’m not sure it is justified to be perfectly honest.
I thought it was a very patchy first-up performance from Pavlyuchenkova against Wang, and I’m not entirely sure she is at 100% fitness herself. There’s a big 4 weeks of tennis coming up with Indian Wells and Miami, so it’ll be interesting to see what unfolds for the month for the Russian. She is playing well, but if she brings a level similar to round 1, Kostyuk will absolutely take advantage.
This feels like a coin flip, and I actually have a slight edge for Kostyuk. Therefore I’ll happily take the $2.20 side of a coin flip.
Suggested Bet:
1.25 units Kostyuk to defeat Pavlyuchenkova at $2.25 at Topsport ($2.30 at Betfair minus commission, Bet365, and $2.39 Pinnacle)
