Vinny’s WTA Doha Qualifying Preview – Diane Parry vs Erika Andreeva

Posted on

Diane Parry is finally getting closer to fulfilling the potential we all knew she had years ago. The French has recorded some good wins so far this season and only lost in heartbreaking fashion against Mirra Andreeva and Daria Kasatkina recently. Parry led both Russians late in the third and it’s Mirra’s older sister Erika against whom Parry wants to seek revenge today.

Andreeva’s 2024 record is similar to Parry’s, however, her opponents didn’t have the same pedigree. While the Russian has competed outdoors in Australia and indoors in Europe, now switching to outdoors again in Doha, Parry took a quick break and traveled straight from Australia to the Middle East. Scheduling shouldn’t have a huge impact this early in the season, but changing surfaces actually might. Parry is already accustomed to the conditions, having played in Abu Dhabi last week and I give her a go at anything over 1.70.
