After sadly beating Katie Volynets yesterday, Harriet Dart is running into another player in good early-season form. Nuria Parrizas Diaz is coming off a straight-sets win over Clara Tauson, which was highly impressive. The Canberra conditions seem to suit the Spaniard, whose groundstrokes play up a bit in altitude. Both Parrizas Diaz and Dart are rather flat hitters that like quicker courts.
The market rightly corrected the opening odds, which made Parrizas Diaz a $2.30 underdog. That price was so way off that I still see value in the Parrizas Diaz at odds bigger than $2.00. If we’re looking at Elo ratings, the 32-year-old is 20 points ahead of Dart and 50 points when it comes to hard courts. With players usually not hitting their fitness peak in week one, Dart could also feel yesterday’s 3 hour 18 minute match while Parrizas Diaz needed 90 minutes less in her semifinal.
Both players are ranked around #120, so with 125 points on the line, this provides an excellent chance to start their season right and climb up the rankings. We should be in for a close final and I’m going for some overs as well as the underdog price on Parrizas Diaz, who has spent 2.5 hours less on court this week.
