As fantastic as the second round win over Casper Ruud was, things won’t be getting any easier today against Denis Shapovalov.
Such is the nature of the matchup, it hasn’t made its way into either of the two main courts. There will be an advantage with the crowd, but not to the same extent as we saw against Ruud. This is clearly a step up today with Shapovalov across the net, given Ruud’s game not being suited to grass and the motivation level not quite there throughout the match. Broady is going to need to be more defensive today.
I do rate Broady, as I did back him in the lead up tournament against Ymer. However, I’m higher on Shapovalov at the moment compared to most. It was another strong performance against Barrere, and in this match up with the ability to consistently dictate, I was anticipating a -6 handicap. The -4.5 looks generous, however I’ll cap this at 2 units because it is Denis after all.
