1 unit Rune -3.5 games vs Berrettini at $2.02 at Topsport ($2.07 at Pinnacle)

Play has begun in Monte Carlo, however there are a couple of matches later in the day that appeal for some small plays.

In the matches that are next on court, I do think Karen Khachanov should be a slight favourite against Andrey Rublev, however I will simply watch that match with interest. I had some doubts over Khachanov’s improved form over the last 6-9 months would translate to the clay, however the early signs are promising. Looking forward to watching this one.

After an injury interrupted couple of months, I think this is the time to start considering Stefanos Tsitsipas when it comes to outrights and even future selections. I anticipate Tsitsipas should be far too strong here for Nicolas Jarry, who scraped over the line against Popyrin the other day. I like the Tsitsipas -3.5 games.

Monte Carlo hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Novak Djokovic over the last couple of years, and his first match against Gakhov wasn’t the most convincing performance we have seen from him. I priced Musetti at $5, so only a slight edge at most books.

The one play I have settled on here is Holger Rune to cover the -3.5 games at plus money against Matteo Berrettini. Berrettini scraped over the line against Cerundolo, and as much as Rune can frustrate me at times, these are near ideal conditions for him, especially with the match-up scheduled for later in the evening. Berrettini is still on his way back to top form, and this is a significant step up in opposition quality today. Rune is another to watch in outright markets in the coming months.
