DraftKings Thoughts: Wimbledon Day 1

Posted on

Rather than naming a team that could be copied by many, I will post a list of players I love at their price (winners), a player I think is overpriced (unforced errors), and any underdogs that could be interchangeable in a couple of teams if you are in search of a low salary upset.

Winners

– Ann Li ($9,200) –  The overall slate here isn’t super exciting, so it may be a case of trying to find the major upset, or picking a very even salary team. I think Nadia Podoroska is a little vulnerable here, especially when you look at the improvements made in the game of Li since we last saw her on the grass.
– Donna Vekic ($8,000) – The question mark has been her fitness on the return from injury, however the Croatian has been able to step on court a couple of times over the course of the last fortnight. Plays better against pace on the grass and she will get that against Potapova, who remains a little too erratic to trust at the salary on offer today.

Unforced Errors

– Maria Sakkari ($10,500) – There is something about this match-up with Rus that concerns me, although I cannot put my finger on it. First match back on tour since Roland Garros, against a player with a very capable serve. The left handed serve to the backhand on these grass courts with a bit of moisture has the potential to be an issue for Sakkari here, so I will avoid her.

Upset Alert

– Francis Tiafoe ($4,300) – I wrote about this one on the Betfair Hub. Comes into this with a recent grass Challenger title on grass, against Tsitsipas who has skipped the lead in tournaments after his run at Roland Garros. Think he has the potential to hold his on in this one.

Tough slate, however if you have any questions about specific players,  please don’t hesitate to get in touch via Twitter.

If gambling, please do so responsibly.
