Steve’s ATP Roland Garros Preview: Seppi vs Kwon

Posted on

Well I wasn’t expecting this to be the second round match-up, and with them set to meet, I think we have the wrong player as a favourite.

I haven’t been overly strong on the form of Soon Woo Kwon on clay, even with his wins over Carballes Baena and Bagnis. I don’t rate the win over Anderson by any stretch, given the South African’s form this year whilst returning from injury. Kwon lacks the consistency I would like him to have at this price against Seppi, and should be at the odds of the Italian today.

Seppi has played a limited schedule this year, however he has looked solid in his recent Challenger matches and his round 1 loss to eventual title winner Seb Korda. What was impressive in his round 1 win against Auger Aliassime at big odds was his ability to extend rallies, play smart tennis and apply consistent pressure on the crumbling Canadian.

This match is due to start shortly, so I will wrap up this preview, however this match suits Seppi over the longer format in my opinion, and I am happy to back him in here for 1 unit.

Suggested Bet

1 unit Seppi to defeat Kwon at $2.12 at Topsport (value down to $2)
