Steve’s ATP French Open Preview: Opelka vs Munar

Posted on

Jaume Munar has been a tough player to read at times, however today looks to be a tricky match-up for him against big serving American Reilly Opelka.

Through the first round of the tournament it appears the courts are far more livelier with this tennis ball choice than we saw in 2020. With this confirmed, it is far more appealing to get involved with Opelka on clay with the ball sitting up a little more in the court.

My main question around Munar is: does he have the offensive ability to be able to have any say on the match?

Munar’s serve can lack the power to give him too many free points, which will lend itself to Opelka having the opportunity to be quite aggressive on the return of serve, just like we saw against Martin. Munar genuinely struggled at times through his match with Jordan Thompson in round 1, and to be able to get $1.80 here for Opelka in the conditions, with play set to start prior to the forecasted rain, then I am happy to take it for a unit.

Suggested Bet

1 unit Opelka to defeat Munar at $1.80 at Bet365
