The longer his best-of-3 set matches went last week, the worse Tennys Sandgren looked. I don’t see him having an overly enjoyable time against one of the best movers in the game in Alex De Minaur, even if he did look a little off last week in the ATP Cup.
Until Sandgren proves he wants to be here and looks like he has the tank to become invested in best of 5 set tennis, I am happy to oppose. Whilst De Minaur doesn’t have the biggest serve on tour, he is able to hit his spots consistently for long periods. Combine that with the ability to turn the match into more of a grind than Sandgren will want. Tennys will go for broke, however I don’t see that working against De Minaur in these weather conditions on a fast hardcourt.
