I was very keen to see Kaja Juvan take her game to the next level in 2020, and COVID unfortunately got in the way. Nevertheless, I am still expecting a big 2021 season from her.
That started the other day in defeating Storm Sanders, a very tricky match-up, in the first round of qualifying. Personally when I saw she was due to play Kalinina in round 2, I was expecting a price moreso in the $1.50 (-200) range, so this looks a nice spot. Her game translates well across all surfaces, and this look worthy of a 1 unit play at the price.
Anhelina Kalinina hasn’t impressed me in the performances I have seen since the tour restart. Outside of a small patch at the start of her match against Pliskova at the US Open and against Elise Mertens on indoor, there hasn’t been enough consistency to consider her at the price on offer.
Another 1 unit spot here for Juvan, who has put together a better body of work to trust at the price today.
