ATP Roland Garros Double: Sock vs Opelka and Fognini vs Kukushkin

Sock vs Opelka (Approx 07:00pm AEST)
Fognini vs Kukushkin (Approx 07:00pm AEST)

Whilst they aren’t the two most reliable players on tour, and I don’t find the game handicaps as appealing for each of them, you cannot deny these conditions suit Jack Sock and Fabio Fognini far more than their opponents in Paris today.

Jack Sock was one of the most impressive performers of any of the main draw qualifiers in Paris. He defeated Torpegaard, Bagnis and Kuznetsov on his way to the main draw, and it is comfortably the best I have seen him look on court in years. I haven’t minded taking Sock in the past on clay, and I actually think his game is quite suited to the clay. We haven’t seen Opelka since he turned up to the US Open with a knee issue, and these conditions aren’t conducive to him covering the court comfortably.

For leg two, I saw enough from Fabio Fognini to consider him a suitable second leg here. I mentioned in the outright preview that these conditions are incredibly suited to the Italian. I don’t see Kukushkin as a significant threat in the heavy conditions, and combining the Italian with Sock for over $2 looks worthy of a 1 unit selection.

Suggested Bet

1 unit on Sock ($1.57) and Fognini ($1..36) to win at $2.14 at Bet365
